This. A thousand times! I loathe when someone says “well think of ‘x’ people who have it so much worse than you do” - really? Of course there are people who have it worse - there are ALWAYS people who hae it worse but that doesn’t mean that my pain (or anyone’s) isn’t just as valid! You never hear anyone say “don’t be so happy because there are tons of people who have it way better than you do” - because someone else’s joys or sorrows do not necessarily mitigate your own!

Oh how fun!!! - Was my first reaction. Followed immediately by: Oh crap - all of my ‘things’ are pretty screwed up. Ah well. Life is nothing if we’re not letting our freak flags fly!

1. I’m the oldest of five children.

2. “Technically” my brother and sisters are my “half” brother and sisters. I don’t mess with technicalities though - they’re my sisters and my brother yo! (Also, feel bad for my brother - the only boy smack in the middle of four girls - poor kid didn’t stand a chance)

3. My dad beat feet when I was a wee little Rhonda - I wouldn’t know him if he walked into my living room right now. In fact, I’d probably be a little freaked because hey - stranger in my house.

4. When I was VERY little I thought the best job in the world was being a gas station attendant. That guy was always in a good mood when he pumped our gas AND he got to use the super cool squeegee to clean our windows.

5. I hate to make phone calls. Like seriously hate to do it. If it’s family it’s not so bad. If it’s friends I’ll do it if I HAVE to but don’t ask me to call and order a pizza because it freaks me out. And yes, this can sometimes make my job as an administrative assistant a bit stressful.

6. I’m horrible with both faces and names. Like HORRIBLE. I can meet you and literally ten minutes from now not only NOT remember your name but I might only have a vague sense that we’ve been introduced. It’s embarrassing and makes me very socially awkward.

7. I have OCD, depression and anxiety disorders. Yay me! All are more or less managed with medications. All still impact my life and the way that I live.

8. I cannot stand to have anything dry and dirty/dusty on my hands. I once nearly broke my arm running to wash my hands off when I accidentally got them into some dirt. I was 4 years old. This is not something that has improved with time. *shudders*

9. I have misophonia and am extremely sensitive to loud noises. Some of this is related to my anxiety disorder and some of it comes from having had such serious ear infections as a child that I was literally deaf for a time while they tried to clear them up. Now my ears are very sensitive.

10. When I was younger I had a second degree sunburn (thank you day care) along with sun poisoning and heat exhaustion. I spent a couple of weeks in the hospital spiking fevers and having seizures while the doctors tried to keep my body temperature down. As a result of this I have very little to no tolerance for heat and sun exposure. My body simply overreacts and I get very sick very quickly.

This might actually be the most epic name for a dog. Ever.

OMG! My great-grandmother, back in the day, was working at a factory when hers started (I said it was back in the day) - anyway she flipped. Had no idea what was going on - like this girl she thought she was bleeding to death and had to rely on some of the other women at work to talk her through things and convince her she wasn’t going to die.

No one should ever have to go through that! She said it was so horrifying that she wasn’t ever going to allow any other woman in her family to experience that and had a standing offer to have “the talk” with any of us girls if our moms weren’t willing to do it.

I wanted to stand up and cheer for Sara when she finally said “well, it was nice meeting you” and threw their hurtful words back in their faces with such dignity and grace. And that happy little “this has been fun” was the best “eff you” EVER!
